Me and my Dragon who listens to the wind
I live in a little house at the foot of a blue mountain, surrounded by trees that whisper secrets when the wind blows through them.
I create special things with my hands: necklaces that speak to the soul, bracelets that shine like happy thoughts, earrings that smile when the sun shines. Every creation is born from something I feel.
But my most precious thing is invisible. It's the Dragon that lives inside me.
He's not fierce. He doesn't breathe fire. He's strong, but gentle. I feel him in my chest when I breathe gently. He speaks to me with silence, with the wind, with the beating of my heart.
We walk together. When someone is sad, we sit together. We listen. We stay. Sometimes it takes very little: a word, a breath, a little flower left on the path.
For a long time, however, I did something strange: I took the pain of others and placed it inside myself. Like invisible pebbles, I picked them up one by one. I thought, "If I carry them, they'll feel better."
But little by little I was becoming heavy. My light was fading. My hands no longer created with joy. And I felt a knot inside, one I couldn't explain.
One night I stopped under a tree, with the moon above me.
The Dragon looked at me. He had no eyes, but I felt his warm gaze.
He whispered:
"You are not meant to bear the pain of others. You are here to shine, to be there, not to burden yourself."
Then I closed my eyes. I sighed. And I let go of all those pebbles I had collected.
They fell to the ground, and where they touched, flowers blossomed.
From that moment on, I learned. When someone suffers, I listen. I stay. I offer what I know how: words, creations, full silences. But I no longer carry burdens that aren't mine.
The Dragon still says it, every time the wind blows:
"You don't have to save anyone. You just have to be the light. Those in need will find you."
Moral of the story
Sometimes we think that to help someone, we have to take on all their pain. But true help comes when we remain present with love, without losing ourselves. You don't have to be as strong as a rock: just be true like the wind. Light, close... and luminous.
